Will Right Sized Inventory Keep my Data Secure?

Will RSI Keep my Data Secure ?

Our first commitment to data security is found in our choice of a cloud services provider. Our service runs with Amazon’s Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2). Amazon has a strong commitment to cloud security. Its’ cloud is trusted by many Fortune 500 companies and many if not all of the most security sensitive industries including banking and healthcare.

#1

Beyond simply choosing a cloud service with a strong commitment to security, here are the specific things we do to protect our clients’ data:

Our application server exists only on our registered IP addresses. These registered IP addresses are protected through a Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) connection using a certificate with SHA-2 and 2048 bit encryption. This is the industry leading method for encrypted protection between web browsers and cloud applications. This is important because any data that could identify your items or disclose any confidential business information about those items exists ONLY on the application server. (see #3 below for why / how item info is not included in cloud jobs)

#2

From our application server, sub-level processing jobs (‘cloud jobs’) are sent via job tasking orders to AWS cloud servers. These tasking orders are also encrypted, sent directly to a specific, provisioned server and all data are erased as soon as results of the sub-job come back to our application server.

#3

Your item numbers / names are never included in these job tasking orders. Descriptive information like item description, family, supplier, buyer, etc. are all demographic info that are not required for the analysis so are never sent along with cloud jobs. In addition, the name and location of your items are represented within RSI by an RSI internal item number that is only meaningful within our database and would just be a random, meaningless number to anyone else. Cloud jobs therefore are simply the unintelligible RSI item number followed by a string of comma separated data with no data labels. Cloud jobs are simply sets of random data separated in the job tasking order in the sequence expected by RSI's analytical engine.
