There is no doubt that supply chain planners face a lot of challenges on a daily basis. They are constantly trying to find ways to improve their operations and stay ahead of the competition. This is why it is so important for them to leverage innovative technology.

The core purpose of Right Sized Inventory's application remains inventory optimization. However, our team is excited to see the scope of the application expand into new and different ways to solve complex supply chain issues for two of our clients. Let's talk about a couple examples: 1) warehouse/distribution center analysis, 2) robustness/pressure testing a supply chain network.

In the first example, a client was looking for a way to quickly and accurately determine if the future consolidated warehouse locations would have adequate space to cover inventory fluctuations. The consulting firm they hired was telling them (after 6 months of analysis) that they would need additional space based on their calculations. Unfortunately, the consultants were using traditional methods for determining inventory levels for the future environment, which ultimately provided inaccurate quantities; thus, yielding warehouse space requirements. The Right Sized Inventory team was asked to validate the consultants results and in less than a week we were able to confirm that the future consolidated warehouse space was adequate; thus, saving the company money and a lot of headaches.

In the second example, a client was looking for a way to pressure test their supply chain network to see if it could withstand potential disruptions (e.g., natural disaster, port closures, etc.); what they call "Black Swan Events". Traditional methods for analyzing supply chain networks are not designed to handle disruptions; thus, yielding inaccurate results. The Right Sized Inventory team was able to quickly adapt our technology to pressure test the client's supply chain network. We were able to identify potential issues and make recommendations on how they could improve their network's robustness.
